We are grateful to all our staff for their commitment to the strategic ministry of Local Leaders. Some of our staff are able to work voluntarily.
They give their time as part of their contribution to the Bible colleges of the Majority World.

NATIONAL
Stuart Brooking
REV DR STUART BROOKING

Executive Director

Stuart has worked in Anglican parish ministry in Sydney and Geraldton, WA, and has been a director of various church-based companies. He was National Director of the Church Army in Australia and joined Local Leaders in 2003 as Executive Director. He holds the part-time role of Head of the Department of Ministry and Practice at the Australian College of Theology, and does occasional lecturing in Australian Bible colleges. He has broad academic and mission interests and travels extensively visiting the Local Leaders partner colleges. Stuart has degrees in five disciplines and his PhD is from the University of Sydney looking at Western influences on theological education in the developing world. Stuart and Marion have three adult children and three grandchildren.

RICK TIMBERLAKE

Head of Operations

Rick looks after our finances, operations and compliance. He has a wealth of experience in senior roles within the finance and information technology sectors. He has previously specialised in the management of business and technology change projects; notably leading a large scale business case, sourcing and risk assessment for Queensland Rail’s travel reservation system. Originally from South Africa, Rick now resides in Brisbane with his family.

PETER CLARK

Finance and Compliance Officer

Peter has a background in the compliance and regulatory field, having worked for 20 years at the Australian Taxation Office. He was a member of the Tasmanian Police Force for 11 years and is also a Baptist Pastor. With this professional experience and degrees in Commerce, Finance, Taxation, Ministry and Law, he is well equipped for the role. With a desire for his professional life to be fruitful for the Kingdom, Peter will keep us ahead of the curve in compliance. He is based in Hobart with his wife Jenny and their two daughters.

Kathy Mildenhall
KATHY MILDENHALL

Sponsorship Program Manager

Before joining the Local Leaders team, Kathy built up a wealth of experience in ministry roles alongside her husband Tim (and their four children). Living in Canberra, Sydney, Perth, Broome and Malaysia, Kathy has regularly worked with people from across the globe in ministries such as Fellowship of Overseas Christian University Students (FOCUS) and English for Life. After six years with African Enterprise she is convicted of the strategic importance of equipping and resourcing the Majority World church. Now based in Sydney, Kathy oversees our Student Sponsorship Program.

Nicole Yeates
NICOLE YEATES

Faculty Study Grants Manager

Nicole has several degrees including social work and theology, and has been involved in community-focused program development, project management, organisational process and policy development. Moreover, she has experience in the higher-education and not-for-profit sectors. Her role at Local Leaders is to manage the support provided to faculty members at our partner theological colleges. The grants program aims to build the academic level of Bible college faculty in the Majority World. Nicole comes from Sydney and cherishes being outdoors, at the beach or lake, and time spent with her husband and their three boys makes her smile.

Philippa Blomfield
PHILIPPA BLOMFIELD

Accounts Assistant

Philippa has an Associate Diploma in Accounting and has worked in a number of bookkeeping roles. In more recent years she has contributed her skills to various charitable organisations. In 2010 Philippa, together with her husband Bill and the younger of their two children, lived in Hong Kong where she worked in the accounts department of Crossroads Foundation Ltd. Philippa joined the Local Leaders team in February 2011 providing invaluable assistance to our Operations Manager with internal reporting records and other projects.

Lisa Furguson
LISA FERGUSON

Communications and Events Manager

Lisa manages our national events program, communications and marketing. She has a background in administration and events coordination, having honed her skills working for marketing agencies and in the not-for-profit sector. Lisa enjoys coordinating our communications material, such as our quarterly Prayer Alert publication and derives great satisfaction from a well planned event. Lisa has enjoyed serving Jesus in a variety of ministry roles at her church and loves spending time with her family in the Blue Mountains.

SYDNEY
KERRYN BAIRD

Sydney Director

Kerryn joins us having previously worked for CPX (Centre for Public Christianity), and as a volunteer for exploitation combatants, Collective Shout. She is attracted to Local Leaders’ mission because it reaches from the grassroots level through to churches, families, individuals, communities and countries. Her role as Sydney Director is focused on managing relationships among our Sydney based donors and supporters. The position also involves visiting churches, giving presentations and hosting guest speaker events. Kerryn and her husband Mike have three children and one grandchild. She loves catching up with family and friends over dinner, singing at church, swimming, and walking their two dogs.

MELBOURNE
ROSEMARY JONES

Victorian Director

Rosemary’s primary role is to develop the work of Local Leaders in Victoria. She regularly connects with our current supporters and organises various gatherings to encourage new interest in our ministry. With extensive experience in customer service, Rosemary loves connecting with people and working together towards a common goal. She is involved in a number of team leadership roles at her local church in Melbourne’s south-east, where she and her husband Warwick attend. They love to spend time with their three children and five grandchildren.

PERTH
ROBYN COOPES

Western Australian Director

Robyn is a born and bred West Australian, and loves living in Perth with her husband Marty and 2 high school age children. Before having children, she worked for 15 years as a Chartered Accountant within the corporate tax field, then took a year out to study at Trinity Theological College in Perth, completing a Diploma of Theology. Robyn’s past opportunities to serve Jesus and His church include serving with the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES), Perth Women’s Convention, Trinity Theological College, various ministries at her church, St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Shenton Park and, of course, as a mother and wife. Marty and Robyn have loved being part of the globally strategic ministry of Local Leaders and Robyn considers it a great privilege to introduce people in WA to Local Leaders’ ministry so they too can be part of God’s work of training up leaders for His church around the world.

INTERNATIONAL
DR DAVID TURNBULL

Director, Local Online: A Global Strategy

David joined the team in 2021 as International Program Director for Local Online: A Global Strategy. He has been the head of the Department of Intercultural Studies at Tabor College Adelaide and the head of the Baptist mission agency, Global Interaction for South Australia and Northern Territory. The position provides David with an opportunity to build on his passion for contextual, culturally intelligent theological education. The global strategy will serve, support, empower and resource Bible colleges around the world.

Program Manager, Local Online: A Global Strategy

Based is Sydney, Yianna works with David Turnbull to manage Local Online : A Global Strategy. Having recently completed a degree in project management, she supports the strategy using the latest industry practices. Yianna loves serving the body of Christ through the LOGS project, enjoying the partnerships with theological colleges throughout the Majority World. When she’s not working, Yianna is studying a Bachelor of Theology and is passionate about evangelism. She derives great joy from engaging in deep conversations with those who are curious about the faith. 

DR NANCY NJAGI

Africa Director

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Nancy works with our partners in Africa. She monitors and reports on projects, conducts training in urban mission, coordinates resource mobilisation projects, and supports the running of pedagogy training within colleges. She also acts as a liaison between the Local Leaders staff and supporters in Australia, and partner organisations in Africa. Nancy wants to be the feet and hands of Jesus Christ in her community and her prayer is that society may experience the presence of Jesus. Local Leaders’ mission resonates with Nancy’s passion towards the development of vulnerable communities and families.

DR PAULINE GOLDER

Francophone Africa Director

After experiencing the hardships (as well as the joys) of growing up on the mission field, Pauline had no intention of being a missionary – until God intervened! Pauline has lived in more than 30 homes in multiple countries and has over 25 years experience working with African theological and missiological training centres. Now based in Sydney, Pauline is seconded by mission agency SIM to the role of Local Leaders’ Francophone Africa Director. This role exists to support theological education in Africa’s French-speaking countries.

Dr George Mumbi
DR GEORGE MOMBI

Pasifika Strategy Director

George is Dean of Post Graduate Studies at Christian Leaders Training College (CLTC) in Papua New Guinea. CLTC and Local Leaders International formed a partnership in 2022 enabling one of the college’s senior faculty to be a representative in developing the Pasifika Strategy. Dr Mombi took up this role, which involves around 30% of his time. George works with CLTC’s affiliate colleges around PNG and the wider Pacific region, visiting their campuses and assessing their needs. He provides key insights into ministry and training in Melanesia, having previously served as a senior pastor and regional church leader. As a former student and current faculty member of CLTC, he is passionate about building Christian leadership capacity in a contextually relevant way.

DR RICHARD AND Dr CAROLINE SEED

Theological Education Consultants

Richard and Caroline are CMS (UK) missionaries and the founders of Theological Education Development Services (TEDS). TEDS is geared toward strengthening theological education in Africa; training Bible teachers in key theological institutions across the continent. Experts in pedagogy (how teachers teach), Dick and Caroline are seconded to Local Leaders International to facilitate faculty training as part of our Africa Mile Deep Strategy. They are passionate about coaching lecturers to move from passive teaching methods to more interactive, participative techniques. They work from their base at George Whitefield College (GWC) in South Africa.

Restricted Access Theological Education

This Local Leaders staff member heads up our research and engagement to train leaders in an important restricted access region. This area of ministry will not be outlined publicly for security reasons. If you would like more information, please contact our office.
